Like the casinos of Sin City’s past, the Mirage will forever be a part of Vegas’s history and in the memories of all visitors and locals, with fun stories to tell about this legendary hotel and casino. Some of the most iconic Casino implosions include Stardust, El Rancho, Aladdin, Hacienda, and New Frontier. However, this is Vegas, so no legendary casino goes out without one last curtain call! In the past, many Casinos on The Strip have literally gone out with a bang in front of a cheering crowd. The world-renowned Las Vegas Strip is a one-of-a-kind destination with casinos, hotels, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and attractions, and since 2009 it has been the home to Hard Rock Cafe. A press release by the company stated that “MGM will keep The Mirage name and brand, licensing it to Hard Rock for a few years as they finalize plans to rebrand the property.” The plan is to build the recognizable guitar-shaped hotel next to the main building.

Its iconic volcano, which has welcomed millions of visitors and Las Vegans alike, will sadly be torn down as part of remodeling plans. Hard Rock International acquired the Mirage from MGM Resorts International in December 2021 and plans to demolish the front of the property to rebrand. The Mirage Hotel and Casino has been a staple of Vegas since it opened on November 22, 1989.

Many casinos, like the Aladdin, have come and gone and made room for current legends like Ceasars Palace. The Las Vegas Strip is home to some of the world’s most recognizable hotels and casinos.
